BUTCHER VADER CRANK

IT'S BACK!
THE ORIGINAL...THE ONE AND ONLY...PIONEERING THE PROCESS OF TRANSFORMING OEM CRANKSHAFTS INTO COMPETITION-DESTROYING MONSTERS
This was once only available as an option for those who ordered a short block or long block from us. Now, provide us with your good crank, and we will apply the same magic to install into your own block. The Butcher process is standard procedure in every full boogie motor we build. If you want to be competitive, this is where it starts.
- FFWD BUTCHER CRANKS “free up” lost horsepower by decreasing parasitic drag
- A WEIGHT SAVINGS OF 23% IN MOST CASES in rotational mass WITHOUT sacrificing the integrity of the crankshaft
- THE ONLY CRANKSHAFT AVAILABLE WITH PROFILED COUNTER-WEIGHTS…not only does this make for slicing through oil in the smoothest, most possible way, but it is this PROFILING that separates the men from the boys.
- OUR BUTCHER CRANKSHAFTS FEATURE AN EXOTIC OIL SHEDDING COATING that allows the part to run cooler…resulting in a longer-lasting crankshaft.
Combined, what all of this will give you is an extremely competitive crankshaft that is the absolute best that it can be. The OEM manufacturers never even dreamed that such a task could ever be done…until now.
INTRODUCING THE BUTCHER VADER CRANKSHAFT
NOT KNIFE-EDGING
Knife-edging a crank has been around for years and normally involves a standard procedure to classify it as such. Well, being of a different sort, and always looking for improvement, ours is of a slightly different design. Instead of the leading edge of the crank being cut and the trailing edge left alone, we knife-edge the trailing edge and round the leading edge. Much like the shape of an aircraft's airfoil. We call this procedure "profiling".
The result is a smoother "cutting" crank through the oil without the turbulence and parasitic drag that "normal" knife-edged cranks can and will give you.
OUR LEADING EDGE
Here you can see the leading edge of the crank. A nicely machined, and smooth rounded edge. This feature is done in a manual operation on an old-school Bridgeport VMC...an operation that is more "feel" than merely pushing a cycle start button on a CNC machine.
This leading edge will glide through that oil faster than Lydia at oil wrestling night at the Pip.
TRAILING THE REAR
THERMAL DISPERSSANT TECHNOLOGY
We’ll start off by saying heat transfers more rapidly when there is a large difference in temperature. This coating disperses heat by shedding oil from off of the crankshaft quickly. By shedding the oil more rapidly, cooler oil is splashed onto the crankshaft more frequently. If oil “sticks” to the part longer, it absorbs less heat and blocks cooler oil from contacting the hot surface. We don’t want that.
You have to remember…the longer hot oil sticks to a part, the more the part is going to increase in temperature. The hotter the part becomes, the more its yield strength goes down. Heat kills parts…heat likes your pocketbook. Our VADER coating will help prevent this from happening.
We think this extra step in our “butchering” process is well worth doing as we not only wanted to create a kick-dick performing product but a product that looked like it was going to crush skulls and egos…pure evil. Brute stuff for those who don’t attend church regularly.
It's what makes this crank, VADER.
BALANCING ACT
Lastly, each crank is then fully balanced for race operation. We're talking around .1 ounce/inches of tolerance when we balance these Butchers. To put that into perspective, "RACE" tolerance is .2 ounce/inches (the industry standard) set by Stewart-Warner Engineering. "STREET" tolerance is .5 ounce/inches.
What does all this jargon mean for you? By the time we're through with playing spin doctor, you will be able to safely spin these cranks up to 15000 RPMs...and if you're doing that, we want to know about it.
Please call us toll-free at 1.833.984.RACE or email us to start putting that crank of yours on the path of making boot camp weight-loss history.
All import and domestic applications are welcomed with open arms! Practically any 4-banger crank, such as the 4G63 Mitsubishi, Honda B16/B18/H22, Nissan SR20, Volkswagen, Mazda MZR, Toyota 22R, select Bimmers, or whatever 4-cylinder crankie you can pitch to us, we can do it.
